A Legacy Carved from Wilderness

Our story began with two brothers, Henry and John Hogue, who arrived here with nothing but courage and determination. In Henry’s own words, they started building the Helmcken Falls Lodge in 1950 and opened it to guests in 1952, when this valley was still a wild frontier. Their lodge became a gathering place for hunters, trappers, and travelers drawn by the thundering falls and untamed beauty of Wells Gray. Through their grit, the Hogues built not just a lodge, but a tradition of wilderness hospitality that still thrives today.

Growth Through Generations

• 1950–1952: Henry and John Hogue construct the original hunting and fishing lodge by hand.
• 1970s: A 12-room building rises, blending rustic timberwork with cozy comfort.
• 1980s: Eight handcrafted log cabins were built, using 300-year-old timber, a craftsmanship rarely seen anymore.
• 2015: The property evolves into a full holiday resort, adding 12 modern chalets and 20 RV sites to welcome more explorers.

Today, we offer 33 guest rooms, 22 RV lots, picnic area, an onsite restaurant, and a camping store, a perfect balance between comfort and wilderness living.
